                                      The John Thompson Society Experience:

 Mr. Yaussi has extensive experience in planning and architectural design as principal of this firm and its predecessor for over 35 years. 

His experience includes all aspects of the practice of architecture for a wide range of projects involving municipal and private historic preservation/restoration design.  He has directed the design of numerous renovations and adaptive reuse projects for public authorities, as well as preparing Comprehensive Needs Assessments for several area rehabilitation projects.  Recent projects include renovation programs for the Oneida, Rome and Ithaca Housing Authorities’ Comprehensive Grant Programs and writing Needs Assessments for several area housing projects. Mr. Yaussi's creative expertise is exemplified in high-profile design projects such as the North Country Children’s Clinic, Lewis County General Hospital, Samaritan Medical Center, Woodruff Professional Building, and Ives Hill Retirement Community in Watertown.  Mr. Yaussi, as a specialist on the Americans with Disabilities Act, has conducted seminars, performed accessibility audits and inspections of various facilities throughout Northern New York.

Mr. Yaussi has extensive experience in the fields of historic preservation, restoration and adaptive re-use of historically significant structures.  He has been the Principal Restoration Architect for the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority for the restoration work at Boldt Castle and associated structures on Heart Island for the past 30 years.

He is a LEED Accredited Professional and has won State and National design awards for passive solar and sustainable projects.
